Liquid cooled dv/dt filters for power electronics
dv/dt filters significantly contribute to the system reliability of wind turbine or motor drive applications. Innovative liquid cooled filters from Schaffner allow for a seamless integration into the overall cooling concept of power electronics.
Nowadays, concepts with liquid cooling are becoming more popular in power electronics in the higher kW or MW range, because liquid cooled converters can be built significantly smaller than air cooled models. In order get the maximum benefit out of this cooling method, the immediate peripheral devices, such as input and output filters, need to be equipped with water connections as well.
Schaffner, the international leader in the fields of electromagnetic compatibility and power quality, now offers custom liquid cooled dv/dt filters. In close cooperation with the manufacturer of power electronics, these filters can be perfectly tailored to the requirements of the system. Dv/dt filters protect e.g. AC motors in drive engineering from premature aging or destruction by the PWM output signal, increase motor service life and hence contribute to overall system reliability. The new water cooled versions allow for lower losses and more compact designs and therefore support a higher power density.
Liquid cooled dv/dt filters from Schaffner can be custom built for applications up to ≤1600A and ≤690VAC. The open panel design is optimized for cabinet integration without the need for an expensive filter enclosure.
Wind turbines, central inverters, or motor drives equally benefit from the new innovative filter technology from Schaffner. On special request, Schaffner is also able to offer other types of liquid cooled custom filters.
