R&D Mechanical Engineer / Automotive

To strengthen our team at the headquarter in Luterbach (Switzerland) we are looking for you.

Your tasks

  • Research & Development of key components for e-mobility applications.
  • Collaborate with the global multi-functional team responsible for creating innovative concepts.
  • Supporting OEM related projects from a mechanical perspective; starting from RFQ to SOP.
  • Performing technical calculations to support the design work.
  • Apply mathematical and materials science principles to design and validate automotive electronic assemblies.
  • Validate existing and new design solutions by means of calculation, simulations, and real experiments.
  • Recommend modifications based on test results.
  • Carrying out tolerance stack analyses of EMI filter assemblies and other automotive parts.
  • Supporting the project team in D-FMEA analysis.
  • Evaluating different technologies - stamping/bending, cold forming, plastic injection, plastic overmoulding - from a technical and process point of view.

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in mechanical, material or aerospace engineering, with at least three years of practical experience specifically in automotive mechanical engineering.
  • Proven experience in the creation and review of manufacturing drawings with a solid understanding of design, mathematical, and materials science principles.
  • Competence in mechanical validation tests and mechanical test instrumentations.
  • Knowledge of failure mechanisms in electronic assemblies due to mechanical stress.
  • Ability to work with mechanical simulation tools.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and awareness of standardized techniques (8D report, Root Cause Analysis, Ishikawa etc.)
  • Experience with EV powertrain components (OBC/HV Batteries/Inverters) will be an advantage.
  • Must be hands-on in an R&D lab setting.
  • Demonstrated initiative to be a self-starter with a desire to learn that extends beyond the classroom.
  • The ability to communicate in excellent English is required.
